Fiume O Morte!
In 1919 the Italian poet, dandy and preacher of war Gabriele D’Annunzio occupied the city of Fiume.
The citizens of Fiume, today called Rijeka, retell and reinterpret the bizarre story about the 16-month
occupation of their city in a brutally factual yet defiantly punk cinematic journey.
How should we remember the past?
Can humor illuminate tragedy, or does it risk diminishing it?
Is fascism truly a thing of the past, or has it merely changed its face?
Igor Bezinović is an internationally highly regarded filmmaker from Rijeka. His
documentary film Fiume o Morte! is winner of over 30 international documentary awards.
These include prestigious awards, regarded as the European Oscar awards for Documentary
Film Production.
