EuDiSEE is an interdisciplinary academic and policy platform that examines Europeanisation in Southeast Europe as both a process of institutional transformation and a contested field of political communication, identity, and public meaning-making.
Going beyond EU conditionality, administrative reform, and institutional compliance, the Centre will explore how Europe, democracy, sovereignty, reform, identity, and belonging are understood and discussed by political institutions, the media, civil society, and the wider public.
Its program covers four interconnected areas:
• Doctoral Education and Mentoring: International Doctoral Colloquia providing masterclasses, peer feedback, publication guidance, and policy-communication training.
• Research and Policy Knowledge: A dedicated lab studying Europeanisation, political discourse, and collective identities while producing policy-relevant research.
•Structured Dialogue: Graz Forums bringing together researchers, policymakers, civil society, think tanks, media professionals, and wider publics.
•Open Knowledge and Public Engagement: An online hub featuring publications, policy briefs, event recordings, newsletters, teaching materials, and multilingual resources.
EuDiSEE will strengthen EU Studies at the University of Graz, support emerging researchers, increase the visibility of scholarship from Southeast Europe, and foster lasting exchanges between academia and society. It will provide a shared space for understanding EU enlargement as both a political process and a question of legitimacy, communication, identity, and democratic participation.
