The lecture discusses the nexus between knowledge production and knowledge transfer in the emergence and institutionalization of Southeast European Studies in German-speaking academia. How and under which conditions was research and teaching on the History of Southeastern Europe implemented? Which thematic focuses, theoretical-methodological approaches as well as didactic considerations have been guiding the production and transfer of knowledge? And how did this influence the understanding of Southeastern European history in general? In the Brown Bag Seminar, Elisa Satjukow will reflect on the history and future of Southeast European Studies by combining theoretical approaches from Higher Education Studies with a postcolonial reading of East and Southeast European History.
