Contemporary Southeastern Europe (CSE) – an open-access, international double peer-reviewed scholarly journal – is seeking research articles that explore the characteristics of historic and current migration related to Southeast European societies.
We encourage diverse approaches to this academic topic. We are open to explorations of migration as a critical societal issue, and through approaches rooted in Political Science, Contemporary History, Sociology, Anthropology, Human Geography, Political Economy, Law Studies, Gender, and Cultural Studies.
We invite authors to reflect upon migration in modern history and in light of current developments of the region, including transregional and transnational perspectives. We broadly define the term migration; we are empirically interested in phenomena such as contemporary migration from the Middle East and economically motivated migration before and after the Second World War, as well as the current brain-drain migration from the SEE region. Articles may also discuss migration due to war and politically motivated forms of migration such as ethnic cleansing or political emigration.
Contemporary Southeastern Europe welcomes both empirically and theoretically focused research articles, as well as comparative perspectives towards neighboring and other world regions.
All manuscripts should be submitted in English, in accordance with the general rules for research articles of the journal and subject to a process of international double-blind peer review Friday, 1st of May 2020.
Additionally, CSE welcomes research articles on other current and modern history topics related to Southeastern Europe, as well as shorter non-review analytical texts, such as election analyses, event analyses, and conceptual analyses.
